Agra Metro completes successful trial run on 6km stretch from Mankameshwar to ISBT
Agra: After the successful commencement of metro operations on the priority section of the first corridor of the Agra Metro, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) successfully conducted a train trial run from Mankameshwar to ISBT on the up line. After the trial run, track-laying work on the down line was also completed. Along with the track, work on the third rail, signalling and other systems is underway. The metro train operated for the first time from Mankameshwar station to ISBT, passing through SN Medical College, Agra College, Raja Ki Mandi, and RBS College Metro Station before reaching its destination.Construction work on the second corridor — from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar — is also being carried out at a rapid pace to ensure timely completion of the project and provide a world-class metro system to the people of Agra. For underground metro construction, the station is built first. After the station structure is ready, a launching shaft is constructed, and a tunnel boring machine (TBM) is deployed. The circular tunnel is constructed using the TBM. Due to its circular shape, laying tracks directly is not possible. Therefore, track slabs are cast first, and ballastless tracks are then laid on these flat slabs.
