Agra: A 30-year-old history-sheeter was shot dead by his associates at a guest house in the Trans Yamuna police station area of Agra, police said on Saturday.
Raj Chauhan was allegedly attacked by youths who had accompanied him to the guest house on Tedi Bagiya–Jalesar Road around 9–10 pm on Friday. Chauhan, who had multiple criminal cases pending against him, including attempt to murder and offences under the Arms Act, sustained three to four bullet injuries and died on the spot.
Police recovered several empty cartridges from the room, along with liquor bottles and glasses, indicating alcohol consumption before the incident. Investigators believe a dispute broke out among those present, which led to the shooting.
In 2024, Chauhan was jailed in an attempt to murder case after firing at a man and injuring him. Another case was registered against him in Dec 2025 for taking out an unauthorised procession after being released on bail.
Agra (City) DCP Syed Ali Abbas said police teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and examined the crime scene. An FIR has been registered against unidentified assailants on the complaint of Chauhan's uncle, Naresh Chauhan. "The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused," he said.
