Tripura to raise teaching-learning hours in schools

AGARTALA: With students performing poorly in Madhyamik and higher secondary exams this year, Tripura govt has decided to increase the teaching-learning activities in the schools as per the module of CBSE and carry out administrative inspections.

Director of secondary education NC Sharma on Saturday said several proposals were received from the various stakeholders to strengthen academic activities in educational institutions by increasing lesson hours and frequent evaluation of the students’ performance, which will be placed before the review meeting of the chief minister holding the education portfolio after the election process is over.

According to a report, the education department issued a circular to bring back their old teaching method in schools on Friday. The school authorities have been asked to re-introduce the lesson plan and the classroom diary. The headmasters will ensure the teachers take weekly tests and unit tests of each subject, besides quarterly and monthly exams.

To increase the preparation and performance of the students in all 125 Vidyajoti schools will have to evaluate the answer sheets after taking chapter-wise exams. The instruction was also issued to the teachers to translate the questions that appeared in CBSE previous years’ exams for the students to prepare them and build their confidence, he mentioned.
