Hyundai Motor India gets new MD & CEO as Tarun Garg takes charge: Details
Hyundai Motor India has entered a new chapter with Tarun Garg officially taking charge as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from January 1, 2026. His appointment is historic, as he becomes the first Indian national to lead Hyundai’s Indian subsidiary since its inception nearly three decades ago.
With over 32 years of experience in the automotive industry, Garg brings to his new role a deep understanding of sales, marketing, distribution, financial management and product strategy. His elevation to the top role is seen as a vote of confidence by Hyundai Motor Group in Indian leadership at a time when the market is playing a crucial role in the company’s future growth plans.
Under Garg’s leadership, Hyundai Motor India will sharpen its focus on future-ready mobility solutions, customer-centric operations and the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The company has already outlined an ambitious investment roadmap of Rs 45,000 crore by FY 2030, aimed at accelerating electric vehicles, hybrid technologies, connected mobility and related innovations, while strengthening local manufacturing and exports.
Garg has been closely associated with Hyundai Motor India’s recent growth story. During his earlier roles as Head of Sales, Service and Marketing, and later as Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, the company recorded its highest-ever sales for three consecutive years and achieved record profitability and EBITDA margins.
