Thousands of Muslims from all over the United States and other countries joined the Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) 52nd year annual convention held between September 4-07 at Donald Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont near Chicago’s O'Hare airport. Nobel peace laureate Tawakkol Karman, known as Yemen's Iron lady, also visited the convention.
The Indian consul-general in Chicago hosted a
reception dinner at the Chicago Yacht Club to honour Indian ambassador to the
United States, Arun Kumar Singh, last week. This was the first visit of the Indian
Ambassador to the city.
The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago, the pioneer umbrella organization for Indian Americans in mid-west, hosted its 69th Indian Independence Day celebrations in Chicago.
