The Punjab government on Saturday appointed senior advocate Anmol RattanSidhu as new advocate general (AG), replacing Deepinder Singh Patwalia who had resigned after change in the state government.

Eight first-time MLAs were preferred over a few prominent leaders and AAP's giant-slayers among the 10 ministers who joined Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's cabinet on Saturday. Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to them at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan, reports Vibhor Mohan.

In the first meeting held soon after 10 legislators took oath as ministers on Saturday, the Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann-led cabinet took its first decision of undertaking recruitment for 25,000 government jobs in the state.

Ten ministers, including a woman, will be inducted in the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab on Saturday. Among the 10 ministers, eight are first-time MLAs. After their oath-taking, the newly inducted ministers will assume charge in the Punjab Civil Secretariat and the first cabinet meeting of the AAP government will be held in the afternoon, sources said.

Accompanied by chief minister-designate Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal said this at a roadshow organised by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to thank the voters of Punjab for its landslide victory in the just-concluded state Assembly polls.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said that the party leader Bhagwant Mann alone will take oath on March 16 at the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh's native village Khatkar Kalan while 16 Ministers would be sworn in later.
