NEW DELHI: In a press conference held to 'take the wind out of AAP's defence' on the case of money laundering, members of AAVAM brandished, what they claimed was, proof of AAP accepting money through dubious means. AAVAM members said they give AAP 48 hours to produce covering letters for the donations through cheques of huge sums. Ending the deadline AAVAM threatened to go to election commission, registrar of companies, enforcement directorate and Economic offences wing of Delhi Police.
AAVAM members said that AAP was accepting money, in form of cheques, from companies of questionable background based out of India and abroad.
AAVAM members claimed that they had obtained cheques from the same companies who had donated huge amounts to AAP. AAVAM member Neil said that they wanted to prove that funds accepted through cheques wasnt necessarily 'clean' and could be black money that anyone could obtain. AAP had in its defence on Monday said that they accepted large donations only through cheques as a safeguard against black money.
These were the same companies that AAVAM had highlighted in their press conference on Monday.
These companies, AAVAM member Gopal Goel claimed, were fraudulent who were fronts used to launder money.
How they tracked and obtained cheques from these companies, AAVAM volunteers did not reveal, however they said that by dint of obtaining the cheques they had proved that all money coming through cheques wasn't necesarily 'clean'.
"We wanted to show the modus operandi of AAP that cash is given to such companies and in return cheques are issued. The business of these companies is to turn black into white," AVAM member Karan Singh said at a press conference.
On the question of Home Ministry having completed an audit of AAP's accounts and not having found discrepencies, Gopal Goel said MHA had done "a shoddy job."
Meanwhile Neil fought allegations of AAVAM's political leanings and timing of their revelation in the election season. "AAVAM is not affiliated to a political party nor is it being funded secretively. Personally I am not a member of BJP but on social media I did say that I am a BJP member because I wanted to irritate the AAP," AVAM member Neil said.
