WASHINGTON: The Republican Party is falling apart after former US President Donald Trump launched a frontal personal attack on the powerful leader of its legislative branch, calling him a "political hack" who should be dumped by

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again,” Trump said in the statement. “He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country.”
Trump also warned that said he would back Republicans in congressional primaries where “necessary and appropriate,” amid reports that McConnell would encourage moderates outside Trump's cuckoo brigade of conspiracy theorists and extremists.
Trump's attack was also racially-loaded as he alluded to McConnell's wife Elaine Chao's alleged family's links to China as a reason for the GOP leader doing "nothing" on Beijing's "tremendous economic and military threat." Chao, who was born in Taiwan to a wealthy shipping family, served as the transportation secretary in the Trump cabinet, till she resigned after the January 6 mob attack.
In fact, according to several media accounts, Trump's 622-word diatribe initially included a dig at McConnell having "too many chins and not enough smarts" -- before aides persuaded him to drop it. Cartoons and memes that followed the report highlighted Trump's own multiple chins.
The uncivil war in the GOP also claimed maverick attorney Rudy Giuliani after the former President's office said on Tuesday that he no longer represents Trump in legal cases.
