‘Send them back!’ Canadian asks 'Khalistanis' to go back; Indians 'keep them'
Amid the meeting between external affairs minister S Jaishnakar and Canadian counterpart Anita Anand in Canada as part of the G7 foreign ministers meeting, Khalistani activists staged demonstrations.
Several videos of Khalistanis' supporters protesting in Canada have sparked the debate online, where a few users are practically begging to leave the country.
The irony? Canada was once the country that accused India of killing Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and disturbed its ties with New Delhi seems to now understand that they are not good for their country as well.
While sharing the videos on X, several users in Canada practically begged: “Please take them back!,” "They need to be rounded up and sent back to India," another said. A user demanded for the "remigration now."
Meanwhile, Indians online are firing back with equal enthusiasm: “India is not going to take Khalistani's back - they don't want them, except to prosecute, which they don't have to do now.” Another user commented, "The boat has sailed! Indian government has been asking to extradite these but your Trudeau kept them in his lap! Now why blame Indians???? Open your eyes!"
Canada and India have found rare common ground — by arguing over who doesn’t want the Khalistan supporters.
The Khalistanis has become a bigger issue for Canada. The continuous protest and Khalistanis involvement in crime have put them on bad books. Recently, Canadian police have arrested Khalistani leader, Inderjeet Singh Gosal for over a dozen firearms-related offences.
Even in June this year, Canada's top intelligence agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), has for the first time officially confirmed that Khalistani extremists are using Canadian soil as a base to promote, fundraise, and plan violent activities primarily targeting India.
The report categorically states: "Khalistani extremists continue to use Canada as a base for the promotion, fundraising or planning of violence primarily in India."
The revelation, contained in CSIS’s 2024 annual report, corroborates India’s long-standing concerns over pro-Khalistan networks operating from Canadian soil.
According to the report, since the mid-1980s, the primary politically motivated violent extremism threat in Canada has stemmed from Canada-based Khalistani extremists (CBKEs) seeking to create an independent Khalistan through violent means.

How Khalistan is a bigger problem in Canada than India today?
