Magnitude 7.6 earthquake strikes near Tonga in South Pacific ocean

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck near Tonga in the South Pacific on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake occurred at a depth of about 237 kilometres, roughly 150 kilometres west of Neiafu. No tsunami warning was issued following the tremor, and there were no immediate reports of damage.
