'Absolutely not': Pakistani army denies any role in ongoing political turmoil

NEW DELHI: The Pakistan military on Sunday said it has nothing to do with the sudden scrapping of the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, or the dissolution of parliament and calling of early elections.

The DG ISPR's comments came after President

Arif Alvi

approved the dissolution of parliament on the advice of PM Imran Khan.

Earlier in the day, deputy speaker

Qasim Suri

had dismissed the much-anticipated no-confidence motion against the PM saying it was in contradiction to Article 5 of the Constitution. The Opposition has moved the Supreme Court against Suri's decision.

Meanwhile, former minister of state for information and broadcasting

Farrukh Habib

has confirmed that the elections will now take place within 90 days.(with inputs from agencies)
