US-Israel-Iran War News Live Updates: US strikes Iran military targets, drones & missiles shot down over Kuwait

Iran War News: Tensions across the Middle East escalated further as a series of developments unfolded involving Iran, Israel, Lebanon, the United States, and regional allies. According to official and military statements, cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah intensified, with renewed strikes, drone attacks, and evacuation warnings in southern Lebanon.

Netanyahu ordered strikes on “terrorist targets” in southern Beirut. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that an Israeli soldier was killed in a Hezbollah drone strike near Yohmor in southern Lebanon. Three other soldiers were injured in the attack.

The military also reported intercepting rockets and drones launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel, including the Upper Galilee and Kiryat Shmona areas.

Regional diplomatic and political tensions also continued to rise. Iran’s foreign ministry indicated that a Lebanon ceasefire remains a key condition in discussions involving a US-led deal framework. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Iran is willing to reach an agreement with Washington, expressing optimism about negotiations while criticizing domestic political opposition.

Further developments included the US Central Command confirming “self-defence strikes” on Iranian radar and drone command-and-control facilities in southern Iran following what it described as aggressive Iranian actions. Iran, meanwhile, reported counterclaims of targeting US-linked sites and continuing military responses.

Elsewhere, regional reactions included the UAE condemning Israeli actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, while Kuwait reported ongoing air defence activity against incoming missile and drone threats. Analysts also reported Iran has restored access to underground missile tunnels damaged in earlier strikes, highlighting ongoing military preparedness despite sustained pressure.

Iran War News: US bombs Iranian military sites and Kuwait is hit by drone and missile fire
Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated on Monday after Washington said it had carried out air strikes on Iranian radar and drone facilities in response to Tehran’s downing of a US drone over the weekend. Iran said it retaliated with a strike of its own, while Kuwait reported incoming missile and drone fire intercepted by its air defences.

The latest exchanges have further strained a fragile ceasefire between the two countries, even as diplomats continue efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict. Iran has maintained restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy supplies and driving up fuel prices worldwide.

Meanwhile, fighting has intensified between Israel and Hezbollah despite a separate ceasefire. Israel has expanded its military presence deeper into Lebanon, while the Iran-backed group continues launching drones into Israeli territory.

Despite the escalating violence, negotiations remain under way, with both sides expressing cautious interest in reaching a broader agreement.

Iran war: Israel orders strikes on Beirut suburbs ahead of UNSC meeting
Israel announced on Monday that it would resume air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold that has largely avoided major attacks since April, as Israeli forces advance deeper into Lebanon than at any time in the past two decades. The UN Security Council is due to hold an emergency meeting on Israel’s expanding military operations, while Iran has insisted that a ceasefire in Lebanon remains essential to any agreement aimed at ending its broader conflict with the United States.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz said the strikes were ordered in response to what they described as repeated Hezbollah violations of the ceasefire and attacks on Israeli communities. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the offensive, calling it a severe act of aggression. Civilians have continued to flee affected areas as fighting intensifies. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with further US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel scheduled this week.

In a post on X, Ghalibaf cited what he described as continued restrictions on Iranian ports and the escalation of Israeli military activity in Lebanon.

“The naval blockade and escalation of war crimes in Lebanon by the genocidal Zionist regime are clear evidence of US noncompliance with the ceasefire,” he wrote.

He added, “Every choice has a price, and the bill comes due. It will all fall into place.”

Iranian deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran and Oman are the only two countries that have the right to “exercise sovereignty” over the Strait of Hormuz.

In remarks carried by Iran’s IRIB broadcaster, Gharibabadi said Iran has introduced a new system for “controlling traffic and navigation” in the strategic waterway, while coordination arrangements are maintained with Oman.

He added that Iran has urged Oman not to give in to what he described as US threats, referring to comments attributed to US President Donald Trump warning of consequences if the country does not “behave just like everybody else” regarding the strait.

Israel Iran war: Kuwait denounces Israel’s 'continued escalation' in Lebanon
Kuwait’s foreign ministry has strongly condemned what it described as Israel’s “wide-scale ground incursion” into Lebanon, calling it a continuation of escalating military actions.

In a statement, the ministry expressed Kuwait’s “strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued escalation” by Israeli forces, reaffirming its support for Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

It called for an immediate halt to the escalation, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territory, and full compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and other relevant international resolutions.

The ministry also urged the international community and the UN Security Council to fulfil their responsibilities in stopping what it described as ongoing violations.

The statement came shortly after Kuwait reported “hostile” missile and drone attacks, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it carried out a retaliatory strike on a base it said was used in an attack on its Sirik Island.

US Iran war: Iran says US talks marked by 'deep mistrust' and shifting positions
Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that ongoing exchanges between Tehran and Washington are taking place in an atmosphere of deep mistrust, accusing the United States of frequently changing its positions and complicating diplomatic efforts, according to ISNA.

Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Baghaei said, “The negotiations began in the midst of severe mistrust and suspicion, and the exchange of messages is taking place in this atmosphere.”

He added that while diplomacy does not depend on trust between negotiating parties, shifting US positions have slowed progress. “One of the difficulties of negotiating with the United States is the frequent changes in the positions and contradictory stances of the country's officials. This situation only disrupts the processes and prolongs the path,” he said.

Baghaei also accused Israel of attempting to derail diplomatic efforts, saying the escalation in Lebanon is aimed at blocking any chance of progress in negotiations.

Addressing reports about possible additions to the negotiating agenda, including nuclear-related conditions, he reiterated that Tehran’s focus remains on ending the conflict and said no nuclear negotiations are currently taking place.

“As we have repeatedly stated, there have been no negotiations on nuclear-related issues, and our focus is on ending the war,” he said.

He further linked developments in Lebanon to the broader diplomatic process, stating that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an essential component of any agreement between Iran and the United States.

Baghaei also accused both Israel and the United States of violating ceasefire arrangements, saying Iranian forces had responded to what Tehran considers American aggression.

US Iran war: US does not expect Israel to absorb civilian attacks, says report
An Israeli media report has said the United States has signalled that it does not expect Israel to absorb attacks against its civilians, effectively allowing greater flexibility for Israeli military operations amid escalating hostilities.

According to The Jerusalem Post, citing by ANI, senior Israeli officials approached Washington over the weekend seeking approval to expand Israel’s military campaign, including potential escalation in Beirut.

A US official was quoted as saying, “The United States does not expect Israel to absorb ongoing attacks on its civilians by a terrorist organisation.”

The official added that, “The fastest way to de-escalate and protect civilians on all sides is for Hezbollah to stop firing immediately.”

The report also said Israeli officials were optimistic that Washington would be receptive to their request, citing limited progress in negotiations between the US and Iran as well as stalled talks between Israel and Lebanon.

Iran News: Iran says it is not holding nuclear talks with the United States
Iran’s foreign ministry said that there are currently no exchanges with the United States over the details of its nuclear programme.

“We know when it is necessary to act on nuclear matters. No negotiations have taken place on the details of the nuclear file. At this stage, our priority is ending the war,” foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said during a weekly press briefing.

The remarks underscore Tehran’s position that discussions with Washington are not focused on the technical aspects of Iran’s nuclear programme at this stage, with officials reiterating that their immediate priority is ending the ongoing conflict.

Iran War: Israeli soldier killed in Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon, IDF says
An Israeli soldier was killed and three others were wounded in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon overnight, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The military identified the slain soldier as Adam Tzarfati, 20, a member of the Maglan Unit within the Commando Brigade, from Rosh HaAyin.

The IDF said that at around 1 a.m., an explosive-laden first-person-view (FPV) drone launched by Hezbollah struck a military position near the town of Yohmor, close to Beaufort Castle, where Israeli troops were operating.

The attack killed Tzarfati and seriously wounded another soldier. Two additional troops sustained light injuries, according to the military.

Iran War News: 'Political hacks keep negatively chirping': Trump slams Democrats while expressing confidence in Iran negotiations
US President Donald Trump said Iran is eager to reach an agreement with Washington and expressed confidence that any eventual deal would benefit both the United States and its allies.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticised Democrats and some Republicans for publicly weighing in on the negotiations, arguing that constant commentary makes it harder for him to negotiate effectively.

"Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us. But don’t the Dumocrats, and various seemingly unpatriotic Republicans, understand that it is MUCH tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate, when political hacks keep negatively ‘chirping,’ at levels never seen before, over and over again, that I should move faster, or move slower, or go to war, or not go to war, or whatever," Trump wrote.

The US president urged critics to refrain from second-guessing his approach, adding: "Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end - It always does!"

Israel Iran war: UAE urges Israel to halt ‘escalatory actions’ at Al-Aqsa Mosque
The United Arab Emirates condemned the entry of Israeli settlers into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under Israeli police protection and criticised the raising of the Israeli flag at the site, describing the actions as a provocation and an unacceptable act of extremism.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it strongly denounced the incident and stressed the importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque while ensuring the protection of all religious sites.

The ministry also reaffirmed its support for Jordan’s custodial role in overseeing Islamic endowments and managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It expressed full solidarity with measures taken by Jordan to safeguard and preserve sites of religious significance and called on Israeli authorities to stop what it described as escalatory actions.

The UAE further warned against steps that could fuel regional instability and reiterated its rejection of practices that violate international resolutions and existing agreements, saying such actions risk further escalation.

US Iran war: US carries out 'self-defence strikes' on Iranian radar and drone control sites
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out what it described as self-defence strikes on Iranian radar and drone command-and-control facilities in southern Iran over the weekend, following what it called “aggressive Iranian actions.”

According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island on Saturday and Sunday local time. The operation followed the reported shootdown of a US MQ-1 drone that Washington said was operating over international waters.

CENTCOM said US fighter aircraft responded swiftly, destroying Iranian air defence systems, a drone ground control station, and two one-way attack drones that it said posed a threat to vessels operating in regional waters.

The command described the strikes as “measured and deliberate” and said they were conducted in self-defence. It added that no US service members were injured and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting American assets and interests during the ongoing ceasefire.

Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its air defence units had shot down a US MQ-1 drone after it allegedly entered Iranian airspace early on Sunday. According to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, the drone was detected by surveillance systems and destroyed using advanced air defence missiles.

The IRGC claimed the aircraft was conducting hostile operations and defended the action as a response to what it described as a violation of Iranian sovereignty.

The developments come amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that military action could resume if any future agreement fails to meet US conditions, stating that American forces remain prepared for further operations.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has reportedly returned a proposed agreement with Iran for additional revisions. According to Axios, cited by CBS News, Trump requested multiple changes during a meeting on Friday and has since sought further modifications, while also saying he is in “no hurry” to finalize a deal.

Iran war: IRGC claims strike on air base linked to US operation near Sirik Island
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that its aerospace force targeted an air base allegedly used in a US attack on a telecommunications tower on Sirik Island.

In a statement, the IRGC said the operation was carried out in response to what it described as a US strike on the island, but it did not identify the location of the air base it claimed to have targeted.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following a series of military exchanges in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran restores access to missile tunnels targeted by US and Israeli strikes, report says
Iran has regained access to a large portion of its underground missile network after months of excavation and repair work, underscoring what analysts describe as the limitations of a bombing strategy focused on sealing tunnel entrances, according to a CNN report.

Satellite imagery reviewed by CNN showed that Iranian forces have reopened 50 of the 69 tunnel entrances struck by US and Israeli attacks across 18 underground missile facilities. The strikes were intended to restrict access to missile stockpiles by destroying access roads and burying key tunnel entrances.

The report said Iran used relatively basic equipment, including bulldozers and dump trucks, to remove debris and restore access. Repair efforts continued despite repeated strikes on excavation machinery during the conflict.

Experts cited by CNN said the developments highlight the resilience of Iran’s missile infrastructure. Sam Lair, a research associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, said Iran remains capable of launching missiles as long as it retains operational launchers and trained crews.

“There is little preventing Iran from arming launchers with missiles from its existing stockpile, even if production has been disrupted,” Lair said.

According to CNN, although Iran’s missile launch rate declined significantly during the conflict, Tehran continued firing missiles by gradually reopening access to critical facilities. Repair and excavation work has accelerated since the ceasefire more than seven weeks ago.

The report also noted that Iran has repaired roads damaged in the strikes, with satellite imagery showing that many bomb craters have been filled and some roadways repaved.

Lair said the campaign illustrated the difference between tactical and strategic outcomes, arguing that while the strikes temporarily disrupted Iran’s missile operations, they may not have achieved a lasting strategic effect.

CNN further reported that Iran and the United States have reached a tentative agreement on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, although negotiations over implementation remain ongoing. Analysts warned that if hostilities resume, Iran could still retain significant missile-launch capabilities despite previous efforts to weaken its arsenal.

Asked about CNN’s findings, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell did not address the specific assessment. Instead, he reiterated an earlier statement, saying the US military remains fully prepared to carry out operations whenever directed by the president.

Iran War News: Trump rejects reports questioning scope of proposed Iran nuclear deal
US President Donald Trump has rejected media reports questioning the nuclear provisions of his proposed agreement with Iran, insisting the framework clearly prevents Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized coverage by CNN, saying reports had wrongly suggested that the deal did not address nuclear issues.

“Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iran Nuclear Deal doesn't talk about Nuclear, when actually it states, very clearly, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote.

He argued that the draft agreement goes beyond a simple prohibition on nuclear weapons and includes extensive provisions aimed at addressing broader nuclear-related concerns. According to Trump, most of the agreement is devoted to these issues.

His remarks come days after he described the proposed accord as largely finalized. However, reports indicate that Trump has since returned the draft for significant revisions, prolonging negotiations and adding uncertainty to diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions with Iran.

US Iran War: Marco Rubio pushes de-escalation plan in talks with Israel and Lebanon
US secretary of state Marco Rubio held separate discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts between Israel and Lebanon, a US official said.

According to the official, Washington has proposed an initial de-escalation framework under which Hezbollah would cease all attacks on Israel, while Israel would refrain from expanding military operations in Beirut.

The official added that President Aoun sought to advance the proposal, but Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri argued that Israel should first halt its attacks, saying the responsibility lies with Israel to stop “shooting first.”

Iran War: Oil prices jump over 2 per cent as Israel expands Lebanon offensive

Oil prices rose more than 2 per cent in early Monday trading after Israel ordered troops deeper into southern Lebanon, raising fears of a broader regional conflict and potential disruptions to energy supplies. US crude climbed to $89.53 a barrel, while Brent crude rose to $93.05. The escalation dampened hopes for a near-term extension of the US-Iran ceasefire and renewed concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for about one-fifth of global oil and gas flows. Supply worries outweighed weak economic data from China, which pointed to slowing factory activity and softer demand growth.

Iran War News: Trump says 'most of the agreement' with Iran focuses on nuclear issues
US President Donald Trump, on Truth Social, pushed back against media reports questioning the scope of his proposed agreement with Iran, saying the deal "states, very clearly, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon" and includes extensive provisions related to Tehran's nuclear programme. Trump said critics were wrong to claim the agreement does not address nuclear issues, adding, "In fact, that's what most of the agreement is about," while accusing sections of the media of misrepresenting the contents of the proposed deal.

Iran War News: Oil prices climb as reports suggest US toughened Iran deal terms
Oil prices rose on Monday as markets reacted to reports that the United States had hardened its negotiating position with Iran, raising fresh uncertainty over efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.

US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 2.5 per cent to $89.60 a barrel, while Brent crude for August delivery rose about 2.2 per cent to $93.16 a barrel.

The rebound came after oil prices fell more than 11 per cent last week on expectations that a potential peace agreement could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.

However, sentiment shifted over the weekend after The New York Times and other US media outlets reported that President Donald Trump had returned a draft memorandum of understanding to Tehran with several tougher negotiating demands, casting doubt on the prospects of a near-term agreement.

Qatar condemns Israel's expanded Lebanon offensive as 'dangerous escalation'
Qatar has strongly criticised Israel's expanding military operations in southern Lebanon, calling them a dangerous escalation and a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international humanitarian law. The condemnation came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had captured Beaufort Castle, crossed the Litani River, and would deepen operations against Hezbollah. Doha urged the international community to pressure Israel to halt its offensive, while also engaging with Lebanon through diplomatic channels to address the worsening regional security and humanitarian situation.

Netanyahu calls capture of Beaufort a 'dramatic shift' in Lebanon offensive
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would deepen its operations in Lebanon after troops captured the medieval Beaufort Castle, describing the move as "a dramatic stage and a dramatic shift in the policy we are leading."

"Now my directive is to deepen and expand our hold in places that were under Hezbollah's control," Netanyahu said in a video statement.

The development comes amid escalating clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group. Hezbollah said it targeted Israeli forces near Beaufort and military positions in northern Israel.

Meanwhile, the UN Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting on Monday over Israel's expanding offensive. Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said Beaufort was "a national archaeological site" and "was not a military site for the resistance," criticising the raising of the Israeli flag over the fortress.

Iran war: Iran says does not trust US as Trump toughens terms
Iran's chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran will not back any agreement with Washington unless Iranian rights are fully protected.

"We will not approve any agreement until we are certain that the rights of the Iranian people have been upheld," Ghalibaf said, amid reports that US President Donald Trump has sought tougher terms in a draft deal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also cautioned against reading too much into reports, saying that until a clear outcome is reached, "everything that is being said now is speculation."

Iran war: Conflict drives farmers to seek fertilizer alternatives as prices surge

As the conflict involving Iran disrupts global supply chains, farmers in parts of Africa are turning to alternatives such as cow dung and compost amid rising fertilizer costs.

In Senegal, farmer Abou Sow said fertilizer prices have climbed about 40 per cent since the war began on February 28. Concerned about the impact of disruptions linked to Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route, Sow said he had already shifted away from chemical fertilizers years ago.

Having adopted organic compost and manure from local herders, Sow now encourages other farmers to do the same. "We can't afford to wait for a ceasefire," he said. "It's risky to depend on chemical fertilizers."

The conflict has affected supplies of natural gas, a key ingredient in fertilizer production, while also disrupting global shipping routes, adding pressure on agricultural costs.

US Iran War: No room for 'speculation' until clear outcome reached in US talks, says Iran FM Araghchi
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that "dialogue and an exchange of messages are ongoing" between Tehran and Washington despite a deadlock in negotiations, urging caution against reading too much into unconfirmed reports.

"It is not possible to judge until a clear conclusion is reached; everything that is being said now is speculation and should not be taken seriously until it is certain," Araghchi said, according to IRNA.

His remarks come as reports suggest US President Donald Trump has sought changes to a draft agreement, including tougher conditions on Iran's nuclear commitments and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Major differences remain over Iran's nuclear programme and economic provisions. While Trump has said Washington would take control of and destroy Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, Tehran maintains that its nuclear infrastructure is not under discussion in the current talks.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said no agreement with Washington would gain parliamentary approval unless Iran's "rights" are guaranteed, stressing that Tehran seeks "tangible achievements" rather than relying on US promises.

Lebanon's Berri says Hezbollah will honour ceasefire, questions Israel
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has said he can "guarantee a full, comprehensive and immediate commitment to a ceasefire" by Hezbollah, but questioned whether Israel would halt its military operations. Speaking to Lebanon's National News Agency, Berri asked who would ensure that Israel ends its attacks by land, sea and air, as well as the destruction of villages and homes. Berri is among Lebanon's most influential Shia political leaders.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply on June 1 as Israel, Iran, Hezbollah, the United States, and regional actors exchanged military actions and political statements, further intensifying an already volatile security situation.

Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for residents of Mlikh and Kfarhounah in Lebanon, saying it would soon act against Hezbollah targets in the area. The IDF also reported intercepting rockets and drones launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel, including Upper Galilee and Kiryat Shmona, while carrying out strikes on Hezbollah rocket launch sites.

Diplomatic developments added to the escalation narrative. Iran’s foreign ministry stated that a Lebanon ceasefire is a key condition in negotiations linked to a US-led deal framework. US President Donald Trump said Iran is willing to reach an agreement and expressed optimism about ongoing talks, while criticizing political opposition to the negotiations.

The US Central Command confirmed it carried out “self-defence strikes” on Iranian radar and drone command-and-control facilities in southern Iran after what it described as aggressive actions. Iran, in turn, reported continued military responses and claims of targeting US-linked sites.

Elsewhere in the region, the UAE condemned Israeli actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, while Kuwait reported active air defence systems intercepting missile and drone threats.
