UAE bans drones, gliders and light sports aircraft amid US-Israel-Iran war
The UAE’s aviation authority has announced a complete ban on operating drones and light sports aircraft across the country, warning that anyone who breaks the rule could face legal action.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said the decision comes due to what it described as “current exceptional circumstances.” The announcement was shared on the authority’s official social media accounts.
According to the GCAA, the ban applies to several types of flying activities. This includes drones (UAVs), recreational and light sports aircraft, as well as gliders and paragliders. All permits related to these activities have been suspended for now.
Officials stressed that the restriction applies to everyone without exception, including hobbyists and operators who normally fly these aircraft for leisure.
The authority urged the public to follow the rules strictly and avoid flying drones or other recreational aircraft during this period.
The GCAA also warned that violating the ban could lead to legal action under UAE laws.
Authorities said the move is aimed at protecting public safety and maintaining the security of the country’s airspace during the ongoing exceptional situation.
