Jordanian police cordon off area near Israeli embassy after gunshots heard
Police in Jordan's capital city, Amman, have secured an area surrounding the Israeli embassy following reports of gunfire on Sunday.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing intermittent gunshots and observed police and emergency medical services responding to the Rabiah neighborhood, the location of the embassy.
A security source stated that police have requested residents remain indoors as a search for those responsible is conducted.
“Police called on residents to stay in their homes as security personnel conducted a search for the culprits,” a security source said.
The area near the embassy, which maintains a significant security presence, is known as a focal point for protests against Israel.
