Bahrain declares public holiday on 1 January for New Year 2026
Bahrain has announced a public holiday on Thursday, 1 January 2026, for all government ministries, departments, and public institutions.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, has issued an official circular confirming the holiday.
According to the circular, all ministries, state departments, and public institutions across the Kingdom will be closed on 1 January 2026. The announcement ensures that government employees can observe the start of the new year, while citizens and residents can plan celebrations or personal activities around the official schedule.
This move aligns with Bahrain’s tradition of marking the beginning of the year with a day off for the public sector, allowing everyone a moment to welcome 2026.
