What are the three things that make you instantly happy?
A teacher for 23 years, but a dream never left her
For more than two decades, Anita worked as an art and craft teacher. Like many women, she juggled work with family responsibilities and personal commitments. Life went on. But somewhere inside her, a dream lived on. Anita taught creative subjects, but she was very interested in mathematics and accountancy. She continued her studies while working full-time, completing her MCom and B.Ed. Years passed, but her love of learning did not fade. While most people begin thinking about retirement in their late 40s, Anita was preparing for something completely different.
The promise she made to herself
When Anita was around 48, she decided to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course.
The reason behind this decision was deeply personal. Her father, who worked as a company secretary, had always inspired her. Anita wanted to present him with a CA degree as a birthday gift when he turned 75. What sounded impossible to many became her mission. She registered through the ICAI Direct Entry route and began preparing for one of the most challenging professional exams in the country. Surprisingly, she even cleared the IPCC examination without taking coaching classes.
Life tested her again and again
The road to becoming a CA was far from smooth. As Anita prepared for her final examinations, she was also managing major family responsibilities. Her daughter's wedding preparations were underway. Her son was appearing for board exams. Household duties and personal commitments demanded her attention every day.
Then came a heartbreaking setback. Just ten days before her CA final exams, Anita lost her mother-in-law. The emotional pain could have forced anyone to give up. But she chose to continue. With determination and discipline, she appeared for the exams despite the difficult circumstances.
A dream fulfilled at 52
Anita's hard work paid off when she cleared the CA exam and became a chartered accountant at the age of 52. It was a professional success for her, but it was more. It was a promise fulfilled, a daughter's tribute to her father, and a tribute to the fact that dreams don't have an expiration date. Today Anita has the experience of working with reputed firms and has started her professional career as a practicing chartered accountant.
