Recently, Super Junior’s Shindong opened up about his role in various variety shows. Expressing sadness, the idol recently revealed that there have been many times when he has been replaced and removed from different variety shows. While the practice of changing cast members is common, what made the situation more hurtful to him was the fact that he was never directly informed about the sudden changes. Super Junior’s Shindong opens up about being removed from variety shows

During one of the recent episodes of the variety show ‘Radio Star’, Shindong opened up bout how he has been replaced on the show, as well as on another variety TV show called ‘The Great Escape’. He revealed that both times, he was never informed about being removed from the show, and got to know about the change in casting from news articles that ended up on his feed. He said during the show that, “Whether it’s ‘Radio Star’ or ‘Great Escape,’ no one tells me I am no longer a part of the show”. He used to be one of the original members of ‘The Great Escape’; however, after the show’s revival 5 years later, the singer ended up finding out that he was not even invited to be part of the show due to a news piece.
“I found out I wasn’t a part of the show after a news article stated that ‘Kim Gook Jin will replace Shindong’. It keeps happening, so I can’t forget it”, he shared during the interview, pointing out how hurt he felt over the news, and how he kept wondering why he wasn’t informed directly.

Since the episode’s release, netizens have been sharing mixed reactions over the matter. While some sympathized with the singer, many others pointed out how this was extremely normal in the broadcasting industry, and it is not something to be this hurt about.One comment read, “They are making a new series with just the IP, so is it really necessary for them to let him know that he’s not a part of the show? Even letting him know sounds funny”, while another shared that, “I think the production team changed…do they have to contact him? I mean, I understand that he’s disappointed, but…”
