Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun cross paths after breakup in ‘The Matchmakers’

Exciting updates are in store for fans of ‘The Matchmakers’ as the show teases an unexpected twist in the upcoming episode!

KBS2's ‘The Matchmakers’ follows the story of Shim Jung Woo (played by Rowoon), a young widower, and Jung Soon Deok (played by Cho Yi Hyun), a young widow. The duo faces challenges together as they attempt to arrange marriages for unmarried men and women in the Joseon era, who are considered a bit older than the usual marriageable age.

In the last episode, Shim Jung Woo discovered that Jung Soon Deok was the daughter-in-law of Left State Councilor Jo (played by Lee Hae Young). Worried about her getting involved in her in-laws' treason case, Shim Jung Woo decided to break up with her by saying, "I do not love you anymore."

Newly released stills give us a sneak peek into a chance encounter between Shim Jung Woo and Jung Soon Deok after their unexpected breakup. Despite noticing each other, Shim Jun Woo tries to avoid her and intentionally turns away. On the other hand, Jung Soon Deok's eyes follow him with a sense of sadness.

However, as the two start talking, a subtle smile appears on their faces, which were once filled with sorrow. The big question now is whether this moment will be a brief happiness amidst upcoming tears or the start of a rekindled and passionate love. The production team shared, “‘The Matchmakers’ is an ambitious project that breaks the traditional mold of conventional historical dramas. We hope the viewers will be captivated by the heartfelt emotions portrayed by Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun in the remaining three episodes."
