Catherine O’Hara honored by family and friends at private funeral service two weeks after her demise
Catherine O’Hara’s closest family and friends gathered on February 14 for a private funeral, just two weeks after her demise. The service took place at St. Martin of Tours Church in Los Angeles, where people who loved her most came together and shared stories in her sweet memory.
The funeral service was small and private, with only her closest circle in attendance.
Actress Kelly Lynch posted a photo from the funeral program, a young Catherine, grinning with that spark in her eyes, and shared a line from Raymond Carver that seemed to speak for everyone missing her: “And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.”
After the funeral service, Catherine’s husband, Robert “Bo” Welch, received her ashes.
News of O’Hara’s demise came as a shock. Per PEOPLE, she passed away after a brief illness, and then, official records showed the cause was a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that blocked her lungs. However, later on, rectal cancer was listed as an underlying condition, something she’d mostly kept private. The actress had been at home in Brentwood when she started having trouble breathing, and even with medical help, she passed away that same day.
