Jacob Elordi offered role as James Bond in Denis Villeneuve's 'Bond 26'?

Amid the chatter surrounding his role in 'Wuthering Heights', it seems that Jacob Elordi has officially been offerend another role of a lifetime. Speculation is rife that the hunk has been offered the role of the next James Bond. At a time when buzz about the film and its casting has been doing the rounds online, new reports suggest that the Australian actor is the top pick for 'Bond 26' director Denis Villeneuve.While no official casting announcement has been made, the race to succeed Daniel Craig as the iconic spy, 007, has been subjected to wild casting speculation. A number of names have been linked to the role in recent months, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, Scott Rose-Marsh, and Callum Turner. Some recent reports even seemed to suggest that Turner may have had already secured the part.Should Elordi beat out all the competition and land the role, he would not only become the second Australian actor to portray 007 after George Lazenby in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', but, he would also be the youngest, at 28 years, to take on the role. Not to mention, he would also become the tallest Bond to date at 6ft 5in (1.96m). As per reports, Elordi had previously featured on Amazon’s reported shortlist for their upcoming Bond franchise. However, buzz about his casting lead to debate over his height possibly derailing his chances of being the super spy. Many noted that the actor would be too tall and would 'stand out' while playing the British spy. At the same time, reports stated that as the actor was under 30, he could be a frontrunner, as the studio is considering a younger actor to lead the rebooted era after Craig’s turn in 'No Time to Die'.Since his role in the teen drama 'Euphoria', Jacob has seen a meteoric rise in his acting career. His recent turn as Frankenstein won him an Oscar nomination and a Critics Choice Award win for Best Supporting Actor.Bond 26 will be directed by Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight, creator of 'Peaky Blinders'. Production is reportedly slated to begin by October 2026 or early 2027, with a release planned for 2028.Elordi is currently riding high on the success of Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of 'Wuthering Heights', co-starring Margot Robbie. The film made on a budget of USD 80 million, opened to a global haul of USD 83 million on its debut weekend at the box office.
