TMC Meeting Deferred After Just 20 Of 80 MLAs Reach Mamata Banerjee's Kolkata Residence

A meeting of newly elected TMC legislators chaired by Mamata Banerjee was postponed after nearly three-fourths of the party's MLAs failed to attend. The TMC said legislators were occupied handling the aftermath of alleged attacks on Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee, along with protests and police action against party workers. The party has announced statewide protest programmes and a sit-in led by Mamata Banerjee, while the BJP has rejected allegations of orchestrating the attacks. Watch

Signature Forgery Row: Abhishek Banerjee Not To Appear Before CID Today

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee will not appear before the CID today in the alleged fake signature case linked to the West Bengal Assembly LoP election row. According to AITC sources, he has formally informed the CID through a letter sent via his lawyer. The case relates to allegations of forged signatures of TMC MLAs on a May 19 letter supporting the selection process for the Leader of Opposition. The CID, which has formed a Special Investigation Team headed by a DIG-rank officer, is examining discrepancies between disputed signatures and official Assembly records. The investigation continues, with multiple leaders already questioned and forensic verification of signatures underway.
