Famous Indian cartoonist RK Laxman who created the comic strip ‘You Said It’, featuring the 'Common Man' represented average Indian. A keen observer Laxman picked his subjects from common people and represented their hopes, aspirations and pain. His character and satire entertained generations over several decades. He was born on October 24, 1921 in Mysore. RK Narayan, a famous writer was his elder brother. Initially, he took up freelance projects. He joined 'The Times of India' and created the 'Common Man.' He was also a writer and published many short stories. He died in Pune on 26 January 2015 at the age of 93.
