Retail inflation rises to 7% in August as food prices surge

India's retail inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) snapped a 3-month downward trend in August. According to data released by government, the CPI numbers in August jumped to 7% where as in July it was 6.71%. The jump has mainly been on account of surge in food prices.
