Police Remove Monitor, Hard Disks From Abhishek Banerjee’s Residence Amid Political Buzz

A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after plainclothes Kolkata Police officers entered the residence of Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee and removed electronic surveillance equipment, including a monitor and hard disks. The development comes weeks after Banerjee’s Z-plus security cover was scaled down, leading to the removal of several security arrangements installed at his residence. Police officials described the operation as a routine exercise to retrieve government-owned security equipment that had earlier been installed for surveillance and protection purposes. However, the quiet manner in which officers carried out the exercise, while refusing to answer media queries, triggered intense political speculation. The Trinamool Congress accused the BJP and authorities of orchestrating unnecessary drama and linked the development to political vendetta. Party spokesperson Saket Gokhale claimed the security downgrade itself was politically motivated and questioned the scale of police deployment during the equipment removal process.The BJP has not officially reacted to the controversy so far. The incident has once again brought focus on the political significance of Abhishek Banerjee and the increasingly tense political climate in West Bengal ahead of future electoral battles.
