A Naxal-affected village in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district suffers from lack of basic infrastructure, like roads, water supply or electricity. Lack of a proper road in the village often leads to fatal consequences in medical emergencies. When repeated pleas for help from the authorities did not yield results, the villagers took it upon themselves to construct a road. They even installed electricity poles on their own.For water supply, the villagers rely on two open wells, which they have dug on their own.The district administration has now promised to look into the grievances of the Kerikona village, giving some hope to the villagers. However, the villagers know that till the administration fulfils its promises, they have to tackle their problems on their own.
