As Pakistan announced the date for its upcoming general elections on February 11, Indian intelligence agencies have heightened their vigilance due to concerns that certain election-related issues in Pakistan might be exploited to incite disturbances in India. This follows an alert issued to various intelligence agencies, including Military Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing, and intelligence units of bordering states, to closely monitor political developments and election campaigns in Pakistan, as they could potentially impact sensitive regions in India. Furthermore, intelligence agencies have been monitoring the activities of the K2 (Kashmir-Khalistan) desk of Pakistan's ISI for an extended period. Recent discussions between the Intelligence Bureau and the Border Security Force have also revolved around the increased drone activity along the International Border. Pakistan's President Arif Alvi, in agreement with the Election Commission of Pakistan, later confirmed the election date as February 8, 2024.
