With a flat 25 percent tariff announced on all US-bound trade, India faces fresh uncertainty despite already being hit by heavy duties. Iran remains a major buyer of Indian basmati rice and a key strategic partner through the Chabahar port. As global tensions rise, this move forces India to reassess trade exposure, protect farmers and exporters, and ensure its strategic interests are not caught in a widening US-Iran confrontation.
