VS Naipaul was a British novelist who had Indo-Nepalese roots. His most famous works include 'Miguel Street' and 'A House for Mr. Biswas'. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 2001 and was the first person of Indian origin to be awarded the Booker prize. He moved to London in 1954 from Spain, after which he traveled across India, Africa, and the Islamic world. Naipaul also got his first major break as a television presenter in BBC's 'Carribean Voices'.
