Big boost to Aligarh lock making industry after GI tag recognition

Aligarh's locks are exported to many countries -- and now with the GI tag, lock makers hope that they will gain a new identity in both the domestic and the foreign market. The tag provides legal protection to the locks which serves as a boost to the lock making industry in Aligarh. Inspite of the introduction of computerised mechanism, the art of making locks through hands also continues to be in practice.
