Kanwariyas electrocuted to death in UP's Meerut as truck carrying hits high-tension overhead wire

Five kanwariyas were electrocuted after a speaker on their vehicle came in contact with a high-tension overhead wire in the Bhawanpur area of meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, said police. Several others on the Kanwar Yatra were injured in the incident. The kanwariyas were returning from Haridwar after having collected the holy water and had just entered Meerut when the accident occurred. Confirming the deaths of the five people, District Magistrate Deepak Meena said the injured are undergoing treatment.
