Russia claimed having repelled a major Ukrainian aerial attack ahead of Victory Day celebrations. According to the Russian defence ministry, Moscow said it intercepted and destroyed 264 drones overnight across multiple regions. According to the Russian defence ministry, the drones targeted areas including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Ryazan, Crimea, the Moscow region and parts of the Black and Azov Seas. The latest attacks come amid mounting pressure on a fragile ceasefire and growing fears of further escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Russian officials also claimed that 347 Ukrainian drones were shot down a day earlier across more than 20 regions, including areas deep inside Russian territory.
