UP: 5-km long ropeway pilot project in Varanasi to ease traffic congestion

Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world, is all set to get a ropeway system to ease traffic congestion. Under the pilot project, three stations will be developed. The three stations will be at Cantonment railway station, Rathyatra station and Godowlia Chowk. The 12-seater cable cars will travel at a speed of 20km/hour. Over 72000 passengers are expected to travel daily using the ropeway.
