23 king cobra eggs laid some months back near a human settlement in Kannur district hatched on July 29 near at a private plantation near Kottiyoor in Kannur district of Kerala. The eggs hatched on July 29, and hatchlings have been released in the nearby forest away from human settlements. Last year too, a king cobra had laid eggs in the same locality, and people were alarmed. This year, the eggs were spotted on May 4, and forest department officials kept a close watch on them.
