Thousand of farmers and farm labourers are protesting at Ramlila Ground in Delhi, demanding complete waiver of farm loans and 1.5 times returns on their investments. The protest has been organised by the Left-leaning Centre of Indian Trade Unions, All India Kisan Sabha and All India Agricultural Workers Union. They are demanding a stop to "corporatisation" of the farm sector. They also accused the Centre of using communalism and other means to divide the farming community. The protest movement will be further strengthened unless the demands are met, they said.
