This birding season, winged creatures have a new address. Asita East, a new habitat restored on the Yamuna floodplain, has emerged as the latest hotspot for birders. Most of the wetlands in the city are in desperate need of restoration and have been given a miss this time by large flocks of birds. Unveiled in September last year, the project is being developed by DDA on 98 hectares right after Yamuna Bridge on Vikas Marg. More than 72 bird species have been spotted - the highest count so far at any site in Delhi since the last birding season.
