Markets recover some losses but Sensex finishes below 36,000 ahead of budget

The equity markets stayed subdued ahead of Budget 2018, even as investors reposed some faith in the last hour of trading with Sensex recovering almost 200 points. The BSE index finished with a rather modest loss of 68.71 points, a much better showing as compared to the 280-point slip it faced in intra-day trading. Sensex however slipped below the 36K-mark ahead of budget, finishing on 35,965.02. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty closed on 11,027.70, down 21.95 points.
