Market close: Sensex drops 72 pts; Nifty50 holds above 10,700

The equity market saw a choppy day of trading on Tuesday as benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty swung into the red and green zones multiple times before settling with moderate losses when at closing. 30-share BSE index lost 72.46 points to close on 34,771.05 while the broader 50-share NSE index managed to close just above the psychological mark, finishing on 10,700.45, losing 41.10 points. The day saw volatile trading as the intra-day high and low were seperated by 200 points.
