Roma Navani has spent over two decades navigating the worlds of television and theatre, yet for her, the stage continues to hold a very special place. “For me, the stage will always be important, even if I explore different mediums. Theatre has a unique vibe and it offers immense satisfaction,” she says.
Roma took a break from work after her show
Radha Mohan wrapped up in 2024. Speaking about that period, she shares, “I lost my father (2024), and I was devastated. That’s when I decided to step away from work for a while.” Now, she has returned to where her heart truly lies — the stage. She is currently performing in the play Patte Khul Gaye, written and directed by Rakesh Bedi, where she stars opposite Anant Mahadevan. Talking about her part, she says, “The play revolves around couples who are enjoying dinner together and how their extra marital affairs are exposed whilst they are talking on the phone.”
Reflecting on the strengths of both television and theatre, Roma explains, “Television gives you reach, but the stage gives you depth. Both are equally important for an actor’s growth. TV offers visibility and continuity, while theatre brings an unmatched thrill. Performing live keeps you grounded and makes you feel like you are constantly evolving as an artist. Personally, I would like to balance all mediums and do a range of roles.”
