Extreme diet measures followed by these TV actresses to lose weight

With cameras literally following them everywhere, TV celebs prefer to stay in shape and look good when they pose for photographs or on screen. Always looking good and in shape isn't an easy task. These celebs follow some extreme measures. Giving up on their favourite food, leading a disciplined lifestyle are few of the things that actresses have to adhere to. Shehnaaz Gill

Bigg Boss 13's Shehnaaz Gill utilised the lockdown perfectly and shed 12 kgs in 6 months' time. She cut down on her meals and ate small portions throughout the day, which worked in her favour. Speaking about her diet regime back then, Shehnaaz had told ETimes TV, "I went in for a simple reduction in my eating habits. You can say that I cut off on my non-vegetarian food, chocolates and ice cream and nothing else. But besides that, let me explain how I ate because therein lies the catch. Every day, I ate just one or two things. I wouldn't stuff too much variety in my daily consumption of food. For example, if I ate dal and moong for lunch, I would eat the same for dinner. And I reduced the portions. If I was hungry for two rotis, I ate only one. Mann maarke khati thi. And it started working. I was 67 kg around the time lockdown began in March, I am 55 kg now. Lost 12 kg in less than 6 months, but without doing any exercise. Just my restricted food consumption did the trick."

Bharti Singh

Bharti Singh is healthily enjoying her pregnancy phase and before trying for pregnancy, the comedian lost oodles of weight. She switched to intermittent fasting where a person fasts for 16 hours. The comedian-host shared that she ate her first meal at 12 pm and last meal at 7 pm. She ate everything, right from butter paratha to her favourite foods during that duration but strictly nothing after 7. This technique helped her lose 16 kgs in 10 months and her midnight cravings were under control too, as her body had adapted to intermittent fasting.

Hina Khan

Hina Khan has one of the most envious physiques and she does rigorous exercise along with eating healthy foods. The actress starts her day with a glass of lukewarm lemon water for detoxification and eats a low carb and protein-rich diet. She eats in small portions which improvises her metabolism. Hina, who has a glowing skin, includes a lot of fruits and veggies in her diet too.

Erica Fernandes was asked by the paparazzi about her secret of always staying fit and energetic. The actress stated that she has not been eating rice and roti and that helps a lot in losing weight, as both these foods contain gluten.

Surbhi Chandna stunned everyone with her transformation in Naagin 4 where she accentuated her waistline through stylish sarees. The actress gave up on her favourite food items like burgers and pizzas and told ETimes TV, "I used to eat bhakhri, rice, veggies, chicken and fish. I also consumed jowar bhakhris. I kept away from junk food but I had my 'cheat' days when I used to go out and eat pav bhaji and pizza. The idea was to be physically active and run around a lot, eat in small proportions than totally deprive yourself."

Smriti Irani surprised everyone with her new profile picture a few months ago and Ekta Kapoor hailed Smriti's diet and teased her to not lose more weight. Maddam Sir actress Yukti Kapoor was also criticised for her weight. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, she revealed the diet plan she had adopted. "It’s been more than 3 years now, I haven’t had roti. I only have rice and that too once in a month. From the time I’ve quit roti and rice, the fat has all gone. I started working and a proper diet helped me a lot. I lost a lot of weight. So people commented on my weight a lot," said Yukti.

The child actor-comedian Gangubai aka Saloni Daini? She is now a grown-up teenager and has lost tremendous weight. She, too, took lockdown as a chance to lose weight and gave up on her favourite food. Saloni ended up losing 2-3kgs extra and therefore she eats everything. The actress, in an interview with ETimes TV, said, "Whenever I eat junk food or high-calorie food, I lose it with workout."

Kashmera Shah, who recently turned 50, cooked healthy meals at home during the lockdown, which even helped her husband Krushna Abhishek in losing weight. In an interview with ETimes TV, Kashmera had stated that initially she was calling for diet food online but was apprehensive about it and switched to cooking by herself.

Monalisa, currently seen in Smart Jodi, lost 7 kgs during the last lockdown and has maintained her weight. In a video interview with ETimes TV, Monalisa had shared that she only ate homemade healthy foods and said it's 70 percent diet and 30 percent exercise. And, she feels great about her body now.

Seen in Hero - Gayab Mode On, Yesha Rughani had opened up about the challenges she underwent after learning that she had PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease). In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Yesha also shared that she follows intermittent fasting to keep her weight in control, which helps her lead a healthy lifestyle. "I do intermittent fasting because I have the issue of PCOD to keep it in control and keep a track on it, I am following this healthy diet lifestyle. I do not step much on the weighing scale, but I have managed to lose 8 kgs. Honestly, it is very difficult when you have PCOD. You have to deal with weight issues. So, fortunately, I realised about it during lockdown when I underwent a weight loss programme. I started looking after myself, I used to eat and sleep on time. I used to keep myself hydrated, wake up on time, so I followed a proper routine and my mother took care of each and every small thing. I was not stressed, because I was at home in my comfort zone, not working and doing anything else, but concentrating on my health. So, it made things easier for me. Usually, we are working round the clock, we wake up late, sleep late, we work for long hours, we miss our lunches or dinner, so all this affects our health. It gets difficult to maintain," said the Hero - Gayab Mode On actress.
