Shark Tank India 4: Vineeta Singh and Kunal Bahl's batchmate pitcher Sahil Vohra bags the first all-5 shark deal closing a major funding round
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 begins with the first pitch of a healthy breakfast brand. Sahil Vohra and Isha Chadha Vohra bring a variety of breakfast ranges with chilla batters, sprouts and more. Their ask for the brand was Rs 50 Lakhs at 2% equity. As they bring their products to taste, they ask Aman to cook his own chilla with them. Anupam jokes, 'You are trying to make it idiot-proof as well.' Aman retorts, 'tameez se'. Peyush, Vineeta and Anupam are extremely impressed by the sprouts.
Sahil shares, 'Our mission is to solve the time management issue and work towards convenience.' On the other hand, Aman messes up the chilla, Isha then asks to just pour the batter. Anupam mocks Aman's cooking skills. However, Aman manages to make one and says, 'Bhagwan kasam, pehli baar kuch banaya hai maggi chhod ke.'
Anupam and Peyush then discuss the ingredients, quantity and pricing of the product. Anupam tries to understand the amount of protein each chilla would have with the batter and how is better than the normal batters that people make at home. The pitchers explain how their batter helps in maintaining health and keeps bloating away. Kunal then expresses concern over the sodium level.
The pitchers then explain how their products' shelf life gets extended without using any preservatives. Aman then asks about their background where Sahil reveals, 'Born and brought up in Bhatinda, I wanted to take Commerce and Business study but mummy was like 'unko milta hai jiske marks nahi aate'. So I decided to do engineering but in IIT and I went to DPS RKpuram.'
Vineeta and Kunal reveal they were also in the same batch and even Aman studied in the same school. Sahil shares that he was in the same batch as Vineeta and Kunal in 2001. Sahil was in XII I and Vineeta and Kunal was in Section J. Anupam asks whether they knew each other, and Kunal says, '1000 bacche graduate hote hai.'
Vineeta asks why didn't they go for the bigger market, Sahil mentions it is important to tap into the smaller market rather than going head-on with giants. After understanding the unit economics, profits, burn and SKUs of the brand Anupam enquires whether they have another funding round. Sahil details that in the current round, he mentions that he wants to generate around Rs 4 crores.
Aman gives the first offer of Rs 1 crore for 5% equity. Vineeta points to areas of improvement. And offers them Rs 50 Lakhs for 2.5% equity. Anupam matches Aman's offer and Peyush matches Vineeta's offer. Kunal reveals that he wants to take the whole round. He offers Rs 2 crore for 10% equity and Rs 4 crore for 20% equity. Anupam matches Kunal's offer. Sahil suggests all 5 sharks together.
All sharks discuss and come to one offer of Rs 2 crores for 12.5% or Rs 4 crores for 25% equity. The pitchers negotiate and seal the deal at Rs 4 crores for 22.22% equity.
