Rishabh Jaiswal on quitting Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: Growth happens when you step into the unknown
Rishabh Jaiswal, who portrayed Krish in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, exited the show last month and had announced the decision through social media, leaving many fans surprised. Now, the actor has finally spoken about why he chose to walk away from one of television’s most successful shows, revealing that the decision came from a desire to step out of his comfort zone and explore newer creative opportunities.
Opening up about his decision, he says, “Honestly, it wasn’t an easy choice at all. Krish gave me so much, both as an actor and as a person. But somewhere, I felt I had explored a large part of his journey, especially emotionally. I didn’t want to stay back just for comfort and risk repeating myself. I believe growth happens when you step into the unknown, even if it’s scary. This was me choosing discomfort over comfort and trusting that there’s more out there for me to discover.”
Apart from the emotional attachment to the character, the actor also had to weigh the financial stability that comes with being part of a long-running and successful television show. He admits, “Anyone who says money doesn’t matter at all would be lying. Television gives you stability, especially when you’re part of such a successful show. Walking away from that comfort zone is scary.”
However, he also felt that making decisions purely out of fear could eventually affect his growth as an actor. He says, “I come from a place where I value hard work deeply, so for me, peace and creative satisfaction are equally important. I didn’t want to stay somewhere only because it felt safe.”
Speaking about leaving a show as iconic as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, he adds, “Being part of this show was truly a blessing. There’s always fear attached to leaving something so established because you don’t know what happens next. But I also believe every actor reaches a point where they need to take a leap for themselves. I wanted to leave with gratitude and good memories while still feeling creatively hungry.”
As previously reported by us, Aryan Arora has stepped into the role of Krish following Rishabh’s exit. Reacting to the replacement, Rishabh says, “I genuinely wish him the best. Every actor brings their own personality and interpretation to a character, and that’s the beauty of storytelling.”
