Nisha Rawal, Shweta Tiwari: Single moms and female TV celebs who stayed away from their kids to participate in Bigg Boss and Lock Upp

Reality shows like Lock Upp and Bigg Boss are not easy to do. They require a huge chunk from an actor's life as they are completely secluded from the world for several months. It's even more difficult for female TV celebs and single moms who have to stay away from their children for that long a period. However, there are some actresses who have taken the bold decision and did well for themselves on such shows. Take a look.

2/7

Nisha Rawal

Nisha Rawal, who is currently seen in Lock Upp, has not had it easy. The actress has been living separately from husband Karan Mehra, whom she accused of domestic violence and having an extramarital affair last year. She entered the reality show this February and financial security for her son Kavish (4 years old) has been one of the major driving forces for her to do so. Now that she is locked inside, she does miss her son and in one of the episodes, she asked him to stay strong. Before entering Lock Upp, she exclusively told ETimes TV, "If there’s any reason that was stopping me from taking up the show was staying away from my son Kavish. Ever since he was born I’ve never stayed away from him, maybe for a day but not more than that. As adults, we have our responsibilities, reasons or sometimes for creative satisfaction, we take a decision to stay away from your child. But the child doesn’t know anything and they just want their mother. But the kind of resilience Kavish has shown and if it wasn’t for that then I don’t think I would have taken up this project."

3/7

Shweta Tiwari

Shweta Tiwari participated in Bigg Boss 4 in 2010 when her daughter was just 10. The actress, who had separated from her husband Raja Choudhary, was appreciated for what she brought to the show by the viewers. She went on to win the season. In the show, she talked often about her daughter. In one of her interviews, she clarified that it wasn't the reason why she won the season as others claimed. She said she would never use her being a single mother to her advantage.

4/7

Babita Phogat

Babita Phogat also entered Lock Upp leaving behind her one-year-old child with her husband. While Babita was all pepped up to do the show, her only fear was staying away from her child. She had told exclusively to ETimes TV, "The one thing that is making me worried and nervous and is very challenging is staying away from my child and husband. It is very difficult to stay away from them. Ever since I've given birth to my child, I’ve not stayed away from him, not even for a day." Babita's stay on the show, however, was short and she got eliminated recently.

5/7

Kamya Panjabi

Kamya Punjabi entered Bigg Boss 7 when her daughter Aara was just four years old. The actress had split from her husband Bunty Negi. Kamya showed her feisty side on the reality show which was loved by the audience. In the show, she talked about her daughter frequently, who she missed a lot. Despite being a strong contender for the trophy, she was evicted after 91 days. After the show, she said she couldn't wait to reunite with her daughter and spend time with her.

6/7

Kashmera Shah

For Bigg Boss 14, Kashmera had to take the bold decision of staying away from her kids which she did. She told us in an exclusive interview, "I try to divert my mind and not think about them. I have never had this kind of responsibility, attachment, or love with anyone else in life ever which I have right now with my kids. Also, my kids are very dependent on me. But I know they have their father with them who is very capable and who has very confidently asked me to go and do the show. I believe that both the parents have to be equally responsible in bringing up the kids. It’s not only the mother’s job."

7/7

Dalljiet Kaur

Dalljiet Kaur entered Bigg Boss 13 leaving behind her son Jaydon with her parents. The actress not just expressed her apprehensions of staying away from her son with ETimes TV but also shared on stage that she is going to miss her son a lot and hasn't stayed away from him for more than two to three days. She called it her only challenge. The actress, however, got eliminated soon. And Salman had told her not to be disheartened as she can now reunite with her son.
