Kapil Sharma's colleague attempts suicide, Shehnaaz Gill's special conversation with sister Shivani: Top TV news of the week

The beginning of the year has been quite a mix for the television industry. While Mohit Raina suprised everyone with his wedding photos, Shehnaaz Gill left her fans in awe with her special chat with Sidharth Shukla's guru Sister Shivani. With the onset of the third wave, several celebs have also caught Covid-19, and the effect of the pandemic was also suffered by one of Kapil's colleagues who tried to end his life. Here's taking a look at major highlights of the week:

Kapil Sharma's colleague Tirthanand Rao tried to end his life on December 27. He was saved in the nick of time. In an exclusive interview with TOI, he shared that financial woes and family cutting off ties with him were the main reasons that led him to consume poison. He also added, that so far he has only received minimal financial aid from CINTAA. He said, "I received help from Ghanshyam in CINTAA to the tune of 10K. Vikram Gokhale has given me 5K. That's all. Nobody else from the TV industry has called up to check on my welfare. I want and I request people to come forward and help me, financially."

Television couple Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh are now divorced. A news portal reported that the divorce came through nine months ago and the two have moved on in their lives. The custody of their baby girl Ayra, who is now over two years old, has been given to Sanjeeda. The couple, who got married in 2012 after dating for a long time, has not made any official statement about their separation or divorce.

Shehnaaz Gill surprised her fans after she shared her conversation with Sidharth Shukla's guru Sister Shivani. The actress titled her video as 'Reset and Restart' wherein the two discussed how to deal with the negativity, pain and loss. Shehnaaz also alluded to Sidharth's passing away and praised him for teaching her a lot. She revealed how she now cherishes their memories together. She said, "Humari journey abhi hai, unki journey complete ho chuki hai. Unka kapda change ho chuka hai lekin woh kahin na kahin aa chuke hain..shakal unki change ho gayi hai but woh dobara iss roop mein aa chuke hain. Unka account mere saath abhi ke liye band ho gaya hai...phir may be continue hoga."

Kirron Kher mourned the demise of Padma Shri awardee and founder of Shillong Chamber Choir, Neil Nongkynrih (52). He died at Reliance Foundation hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday evening (January 5). Neil was seen in the second season of India’s Got Talent, a show judged by her. Taking to her social media account, the actress wrote, "Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of Neil who was the mainstay of The @shillongchamberchoir. We became friends after they won India’s Got Talent season 2. Such a great talent gone too soon. May he RIP. You will be missed dear friend."

Gashmeer, who is known for playing Aditya Tripathi in the hit show Imlie, has apparently put in his papers. A source close to TOI revealed, "It was quite clear from the first day of the shoot that Gashmer will continue to shoot for his Marathi films and for web alongside Imlie, to which the makers had agreed. But as the story progressed and the show started doing well, Gashmeer was not able to take up other projects. He reportedly gave only 10 days in a month to the makers to shoot his sequence which was not enough. After a lot of discussions, Gashmeer finally quit the show. His last day will be in mid-January."

Bobby Darling, who is currently in Delhi, is looking for work. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, she shared how all the roles that are coming her way are that of a gay. She said, "Why should I play gay when I am a woman now. I was a transwoman. I underwent surgeries and now my body is that of a woman. So either I want to play a transwoman or a woman. I am not ready to play gay. How long will I continue to humiliate myself. I feel they can make a movie on me per se." Bobby also talked about the general acceptance in society when it comes to the LGBTQ community, her failed marriage and relations with her husband with whom she is fighting a divorce battle.

Shilpa Shetty travelled to Shirdi with her husband Raj Kundra and brother Rajiv Adatia, and in latter's video revealed that she is going to seek blessings for her sister Shamita's win in Bigg Boss 15. "Sab finale mein jaaye lekin jeete Shamita hi," she said.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame Karan Mehra has been honoured by the World Book Of Records, London for his ‘relentless commitment’ to promoting safety against the pandemic, serving the society and prevention of coronavirus disease. He proudly shared the certificate on his Insatgram handle and wrote, "Thank you world book of records London for this honour."

Rajiv Aditia, who was seen in Bigg Boss 15, has lost 14 kgs and he credits it to his stay in the house. He told ETimes TV, "When I got a call for this show I was very skeptical if I should do the show or not because I was feeling very uncomfortable with my body. But I decided to go inside the show and I lost 14 kilos. I came out three sizes less than what I was. I want to maintain that and lose 10 more kilos. So that I am back to my normal weight. I now have my thyroid under control."

The past week several celebs got down with Covid-19. The list includes popular names such as Ekta Kapoor, Erica Fernandes, Nakuul Mehta, Nora Fatehi, Drashti Dhami, Sumona Chakravarti, Anita Raaj, Sharad Malhotra, Varun Sood, Shikha Singh and Delnaaz Irani among others. Unfortunately, the third wave has affected several in the television industry.

Sudhanshu Pandey clarified in his chat with TOI that he is not leaving Anupamaa. He told us, "There is no question of me quitting Anupamaa. I had gone for a holiday with my family after a year and a half to Dubai. After that, I had gone for a day and a half to Ganaganagar in Rajasthan to shoot for an OTT project. With me missing from the show and then taking a vacation and then shooting another project, which I had to, people presumed that I have quit. It spread like wildfire. My character Vanraj Shah was the hero of the show and will remain the hero."

Devon Ke Dev Mahadev fame Mohit Raina got married to Aditi in a private wedding ceremony. The actor left many suprised after he posted his wedding photos with the caption, "Love recognises no barriers, it jumps hurdles , leaps fences , penetrates walls to arrive at its destination , full of hope . With that hope and the blessings of our parents we are no longer two but one. Need all your love and blessing in this new journey. Aditi & Mohit."
