Kanchi Singh filed an FIR against Indigo Airline after she was offered ₹3,000 as compensation for a missing bag that contained valuable personal and professional belongings. The incident occurred during her Delhi-Mumbai flight on September 28, after airline staff asked her to check in her cabin bag at the boarding gate due to limited overhead space.
Kanchi, who has been part of shows such as Sasural Simar Ka and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, says, “When I landed in Mumbai, my bag never arrived. From that moment, there was confusion and no clear answers.”
She adds, “For nearly two weeks, there was no concrete response. When they finally contacted me, they offered ₹3,000 as compensation. It was upsetting because I had lost items worth around ₹80,000 and that’s when I decided to lodge a police complaint,” she says.
According to the FIR registered in November last year at Sahar Police Station, Kanchi lost expensive professional make-up products and other personal items, including documents such as her PAN card and driving license.
While she admits she has little hope of getting her bag back, Kanchi says the purpose of going public is larger. “The police, I’m sure, are doing their best. Even if I don’t recover my belongings, I want to alert people to be cautious about their expensive items.
Also, there has to be accountability when passengers are asked to hand over their bags,” she concludes.
The baggage was picked up by another customer: AirlineWhen we reached out to the airline, a spokesperson told us, “We are aware of the matter pertaining to one of our customers losing baggage after landing at CSMI Airport, Mumbai, on September 28, 2025. We helped the customer to the best of our ability. However, we regret that it could not be recovered. We extended all possible support to the customer and fully cooperated with the relevant authorities in the investigation.”
