From not having enough money to buy a house to putting in their entire savings; Rohit Purohit and Sheena Bajaj’s white haven in Mumbai

Actors Rohit Purohit and Sheena Bajaj opened up about building their dream home in Mumbai — a journey that began with no savings and a lot of faith in a heartwarming chat with Nayandeep Rakshit. From putting all their money into the house during COVID to designing a calm, minimalistic haven together, the couple’s story is about love, persistence, and creating a space that reflects both their personalities and shared dreams.

Lakshmi’s name should have been there first

The conversation began with Sheena’s playful remark that hinted at her determination. “So, Lakshmi’s name should have been there first. So, Lakshmi’s name is Sheena,” she joked, referring to herself as the goddess of wealth in their journey. Rohit laughed, acknowledging how her conviction made their dream come true. Her belief in manifesting a home symbolized her faith in turning struggle into stability, warmth, and togetherness.

Sheena always wanted a house in Mumbai

Rohit shared how the dream began. “Sheena always wanted a house in Mumbai. She started looking for a house without telling me. I was never in favor of buying one,” he revealed. Having lived in the city for years, he never imagined owning property. “But Sheena always had that dream,” he added. Her quiet persistence eventually pushed Rohit to see their shared future differently — not just rented walls but a true home.

We put in all our savings

The pandemic turned their dream into a test of courage. “During COVID, she started seeing houses. I had no savings,” Rohit admitted. “We put in all our savings for this house. I was worried about EMIs and loans.” Work was scarce, but luck soon turned. “I got a show call I was hesitant about, but Sheena insisted. That led to back-to-back shows, and within 1.5 years, we cleared it all.

We’ll both work for this home

Sheena recalled the promise that defined their journey. “I told him both of us will work for the home,” she said proudly. The couple balanced dreams with discipline, sharing responsibilities equally. While Rohit worked on sets, Sheena took charge of the interiors, design choices, and budgeting. “We worked together like a team,” she said. Their home wasn’t just built from money — it was built from mutual effort and commitment.

6/10

We wanted light, space, and calm

Sheena explained the vision behind their interiors. “We didn’t have much space earlier, so we wanted a minimalistic theme — light colors, beige, and lots of natural light,” she shared. As content creators, they wanted their home to look bright and open on camera. “We wanted a super well-lit house that looked peaceful but alive,” she said, describing their “white haven” as a mix of practicality and serenity.

7/10

They made a group without me

Rohit laughed while sharing how Sheena and her mother managed the setup. “I was shooting every day and didn’t see the house being made. They made a group — and weren’t going to include me!” he chuckled. “I requested, please add me so I know what’s happening.” From invisible doors to chandeliers, every detail was decided over that group chat — a true collaboration between creativity and trust.

8/10

We went for brass, not gold

The couple discussed their design aesthetics with precision. “We went for beautiful lighting, chandeliers, classy wallpapers, and brass fittings,” Rohit said. “We didn’t want gold because it hides in the eyes.” Their goal was elegance without excess — a mix of brass, metal, and neutral tones. “We wanted fewer but meaningful pieces,” Sheena added. Each element reflected subtle sophistication and a sense of calm luxury.

9/10

From a fight over a nail to a closet

Rohit fondly recalled their first home disagreement. “When Sheena came to my rented house, she wanted organizers. I said don’t touch anything!” he laughed. “We fought over one nail.” That playful conflict later inspired their walk-in closet. “We thought we’ll make it a closet,” Sheena said. “But now, with the baby coming, it’ll become a nursery!” Their evolving space mirrors their journey — from newlyweds to soon-to-be parents.

10/10

A peaceful bedroom full of meaning

Sheena described their bedroom as “a space of calm.” “We kept it minimal — as less as possible,” she said. “The bedroom is very peaceful. Nothing unnecessary. Just a few beautiful pieces.” Sheena added, “Our home reflects who we are — every corner holds meaning.” Their white, softly lit haven isn’t just about décor — it’s about peace, love, and the quiet joy of building something together from scratch.
