From Jannat Zubair to Erica Fernandes: 10 TV celebs who refused to do intimate and bold scenes on-screen

A few actors have always been open about their likings and dislikings when it comes to their projects. Even though many artists are exploring different genres and platforms, some have been very particular about not doing intimate or bold scenes be it on TV or any other medium. There is a long list of actors who have refused to enact any bold or intimate scenes on television or web shows. Here’s a look at the list of actors who have refused to do intimate scenes on television:

Jannat Zubair, who is currently making headlines with her Khatron Ke Khiladi 12 show, has always made it clear that she will never do any intimate scenes on television since she is not comfortable with it. The actor had spoken to ETimes TV about it and said “ I will not lock lips on-screen even if I am paired opposite a superstar. That’s out of the question. I am not dependent on this profession for my bread and butter, so I can’t be forced to do anything. There won’t be any kissing scenes and the team can’t use my body double either, to perform something I am not comfortable with.”

Anushka Sen, who was currently in news for visiting South Korea for her debut film, had also expressed about not doing intimate scenes on television. We spoke to Anushka a long time back and asked her if she agrees with Jannat Zubair for not doing intimate scenes on television, and she said that she totally agrees with her. Balveer actor told ETimes TV, “I am very careful before choosing roles and my parents are always there. So, I don't think I would land up in such a situation. We always discuss scripts with each and together take a decision. And in case I do, I will not do a kissing scene. I think Jannat took the right decision and even I would do the same. I would not do a role that is older than me because I don't look like some above 17-18 years. Also, I won't take up a typical romantic role as I want to do challenging roles. I would do it when the time is right. I will always take up roles that are close to my age. I would do romantic roles at the right time when I feel it's the right age.”

Erica Fernandes has always been upfront about her likings and dislikings about her taste. Erica, who made her debut with Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, had once spoken with ETimes TV about not doing intimate scenes be it television or web shows. Erica stated, “I am not comfortable doing bold shows and content and I am quite open about it. I have been offered quite a few shows until now. There have been shows that came my way and had bold content and I have said no to them because sometimes I feel they are forcefully added to the show to sell.”

It's not just actresses, even some TV actors have refused to do intimate scenes and one of them is Shakti fame Vivian Dsena. Vivian, who has always been vocal about not doing intimate scenes, says that he is not comfortable kissing his co-stars on-screen. He says that he doesn’t find it necessary for him to do a kissing scene on TV.

Hiba Nawab had once told ETimes TV about working in a web series, “I would want to be a part of it. But honestly, what’s stopping me is the bold content. I am not comfortable exposing myself or doing bold scenes. I do get calls and the moment I ask if there are any kissing or intimate scenes, they say yes. My family is not in favor of it. As an individual, I am also not comfortable.”

Mahira Sharma, one of the most famous Bigg Boss 13 contestants told ETimes TV in an interview that she is not at all comfortable doing any intimate scenes on TV. When we asked the actress if she is open to doing a bold scene in the future she said, “I'm against doing bold scenes because I think if I am doing some work I should be able to watch it comfortably with my family. Also, I myself am not comfortable doing bold scenes therefore I prefer taking up projects that do not require bold scenes from my character.”

Bigg Boss 7 winner Gauahar Khan is another actress who has refused to do any bold or intimate scenes on the television or web series. The actress, who did a web series recently, had once shared that she will never agree to do any intimate scenes of kissing on screen. She said that she has refused to do many shows because of these demands.

The Sasural Simar Ka 2 actress Tanya Sharma also spoke to ETimes TV about not doing intimate scenes on any TV shows or web series. She said “I am losing out on a lot of projects because of intimate and bold scenes required. I understand that when the makers write a story they have a mindset and a concept. But I have a boundary for myself, and maybe, I am not ready to cross that boundary yet. I am not comfortable doing any intimate scenes right now. So I do not take up that kind of role.”

Bigg Boss 14 contestant Pavitra Punia had also shared once that she had denied working in a show because she was asked to perform an intimate scene. She also confessed that it is her fear of doing an intimate scene on the screen which stops her from doing it.

Harsh Rajput is another male actor who has refused to do intimate scenes on television. The Nazar actor had told ETimes TV that “I don’t have any issues in going all out, but it depends on the medium and whether it is required. If the script demands, I can lock lips on a show, but I am not game for anything beyond that. I am open to stretching the boundaries for other mediums, but it should be justified and shot aesthetically.”
