Edin Rose on recreating Sridevi’s iconic Karthika Deepam song; says, “Some performances can never be recreated, only honoured”

Edin Rose, who has gained fame with her increasing presence in films and reality TV shows, has recently come up with another song, Karthika Deepam, for her current project Bharata Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, starring Ravi Teja.

Edin Rose was also seen as a contestant on Bigg Boss 18 and will soon be seen in an upcoming film. The actress recently revealed that she is a part of Karthika Deepam, a recreated version of Sridevi’s legendary song Aaraneekuma Ee Deepam, which she calls a moment of utmost respect and responsibility.


Edin opened up about recreating a song so closely tied to Sridevi and said, “Honestly, my first emotion was deep gratitude. To even be considered for a song connected to Srideviji felt like a blessing. Of course, there was a sense of responsibility, but it came with respect and care. I knew this was not just another song, it carried history, emotion, and legacy.”



While preparing for the song, Edin chose to revisit the original version with a clear intention. “I revisited the original not to imitate it, but to understand its soul. Srideviji brought such grace and emotion to the song—it’s truly timeless,” she said. She further added that the creative team encouraged her to stay authentic. “The makers encouraged me to stay true to myself and bring my own energy while respecting the essence of the original. That balance helped me perform with honesty rather than comparison.”


Edin then added, “I see it primarily as a tribute. Some performances are so iconic that they can never be recreated, only honoured. If this version helps younger audiences discover Sridevi’s magic, then I feel the purpose is fulfilled.”


With Karthika Deepam, Edin Rose does not aim to compete with history but to carry forward its emotional legacy with sincerity and grace.
