Ashlesha Sawant opens up about 22-year live-in relationship with Sandeep Baswana before marriage
Television actress Ashlesha Sawant recently reflected on her long-standing relationship with actor Sandeep Baswana. She revealed how their bond evolved over the years before they considered marriage. The couple, who have been together for more than two decades, first met on the set of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
The couple recently appeared in a YouTube video with Hauterrfly, where they opened up about their relationship, marriage, and much more. While talking about their live-in relationship before marriage, Ashlesha said, “Inke ghar par pack-up ke baad parties hoti thi. Aksar hafte mein ek-do baar aisa ho hi jaata tha. Main kai baar wahin ruk jaati thi, kyunki agle din set par saath jaana hota tha. Aise hi sab shuru hua. Dheere-dheere yeh sirf get-togethers tak seemit nahi raha. Main pack-up ke baad unke ghar jaakar unke saath waqt bitaane lagi. Is baare mein kisi ko pata nahi tha.”
She further recalled how their friendship turned into something much deeper. Ashlesha added, “Kabhi woh kehte, ‘Chalo yeh movie dekhte hain,’ aur phir poori raat movie marathon chal jaata. Kabhi kehte, ‘Chalo Goa chalte hain,’ aur main turant tayyar ho jaati. Kabhi kisi party ke liye nikalte aur do din baad ghar lautte. Woh meri zindagi ke captain jaise the. Jidhar woh le jaate, main chal padti.”
Ashlesha further added, “Dheere-dheere mujhe unki har baat acchi lagne lagi. Main bilkul ek bachche ki tarah ho gayi thi. Woh kuch bhi karte, mujhe accha lagta. Unki chhoti-chhoti baatein bhi mujhe pyari lagne lagi.”
(Translation: There used to be parties at his house after pack-up, usually once or twice a week. I would often stay back because we had to go to the set together the next morning. That’s how it all began. Gradually, it stopped being limited to just those get-togethers. After pack-up, I started spending time with him at his house. No one knew about it. Sometimes he would say, ‘Let’s watch this movie,’ and it would turn into an all-night movie marathon. Other times, he would say, ‘Let’s go to Goa,’ and I would immediately agree. Sometimes we would leave for a party and return home two days later. He was like the captain of my life. Wherever he led, I followed. )
Their love story began in 2002 when they met on the sets of the popular television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. After being together for 23 years, they finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Vrindavan on November 16, 2025.
