Nancy Guthrie's case: Involvement of a local worker suspect
Fox News Digital reported that there is a high chance that Nancy Guthrie was taken by someone who was local to the area. Barbara Butcher, a veteran forensic scientist and former death investigator for the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, weighed in on the matter and provided more insight into what may have happened.
She stated, as per the report, “Someone in the area … had found out that Mrs. Guthrie was the mother of Savannah Guthrie and said, ‘Oh, she must be rich.’” She further raised questions about how ransom notes for cryptocurrency were shared with the media a few days after the kidnapping; however, no follow-ups were made by the kidnappers.
She added, “My second thought was that after time, when there was no valid ransom demand or any information forthcoming, it’s probably likely that Mrs. Guthrie died of shock, fright, heart disease, whatever it was, very soon after being taken from her home.”
She added that the kidnappers possibly now have nothing, and that the notes were sent to throw off the investigation.
Criminal defence attorney cites that the kidnappers wanted to throw the scent off the case
While in conversation with HELLO! Magazine, RJ Dreiling, a prosecutor who has now started working as a criminal defense attorney, also stated the same and shared that someone intelligent is behind the entire crime. “This is someone intelligent enough to completely hide their tracks, including DNA, fingerprints, and electronic data, but also deranged enough to kidnap this woman out of her home and hold her hostage,” his statement from the magazine report read.
