We now have the world’s first cruise ship with a COVID-19 testing lab in it. The Viking Star cruise ship is the first of its kind, and has an on-board PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) laboratory to get you tested. The onboard facility allows large scale testing capacity for a cruise that can host 930-guests.
The Viking Star cruise is going to go across the world, and stop at 56 ports in 27 countries across the world. With so many passengers, and movements, the laboratory is the right move by the cruise company.
The announcement of the Viking Cruise equipping a COVID-19 lab comes at a time when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lifted its No-Sail Order for cruises to sail in U.S. territory. Also now members of the Cruise Lines International Association have come together to design new rules and regulations for the smooth sailing of cruises during this pandemic. The primary rule is that all passengers coming onboard need to prove that they are COVID-19 negative.
